Employers have a major concern of stress inflicted individuals in the workplace. The well being of their employees reduces absenteeism, boost productivity, reduces accidents, and moral is higher. In a recent poll, 50% of employees surveyed had taken time off work due to anxiety and stress related to the workplace. This in effect, increases claims of compensation and high employee turnover which puts for stress on human resources. When an employee is exposed to long durations of stress, it ca have a huge impact on thier health. High levels of constant stress have been linked to insomnia, migraines, backaches, anger, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and a decrease in immune system potency. These illnesses can lead to such serious health conditions as fertility problems and heart disease. Depending on which profession you work, these stress related factors will vary. In the list below, is a general anxiety and stress culprit that crosses many professions.
* Unreasonable Workload
* Unreasonable Employer Demands
* Lack of recognition
*Lack Of Recognition
* Personal and family issues
* Unorganized Work Environment
* Lack of training
* Long Shifts and Shift Switching
* Understaffed Company To Function Reasonably
* Lack Of Or Poor Management Communication
In order to reduce these types of environments, employers must start with good communication with their employees. Understanding the above dysfunctions, a company can drastically change the work environment. Its the responsibility for the employer to educate their workers about managing stress and how to communicate issues of concern directly to management. Many companies today are implementing designated days throughout the year to activities that unite the employees and management. These activities can be off-site non work related closed group forums to help everyone establish more personal relationships. Companies are savvy to the fact that happy employees result in positive growth of an organization. If you work in a constant state of anxiety and stress in your workplace, you may ant to consider a change of employment; your health depends on it.

Anxiety and Depression are Friends
The common stereotype of a depressed person is usually that of a sad, lazy, unmotivated individual with pessimistic views about everything in life. This is far from the truth. A person that has depression also carries with themselves extreme symptoms of anxiety. Panic attacks, heart palpitations, and feelings of complete hopelessness all come with depression. In fact, the feelings of extreme anxiety and panic leads a person to feeling out of control of their life and emotions. Depression can lead to some very serious health issues. Lack of hunger, taking unnecessary dangerous risk, and in worst case scenarios: suicide. The exact link to anxiety and depression is still sketchy. Treatments are similar for the two disorders and explains why many believe the two to be the same. Eighty-five percent of diagnosed depression patients are also diagnosed with generalized anxiety order.
Patients that have both these disorders face a tremendous challenge. Not only is it a challenge to face life with these disorders combined, but they are usually more severe when partnered up. Depression has a history of being chronic in patients, and tends to take longer to treat. In combination with long bouts of severe anxiety, often leads a patient to suicide. In recent studies, 65% of patients diagnosed with major depression also had symptoms of high anxiety.

Treating Anxiety
Treating anxiety can be confusing and overwhelming with all of today's available treatments. I myself, suffering from anxiety and depression for 20 years have tried several including in-house clinical treatments. However, as time prevailed the effects of treatment soon dissolved. Successful treatment is met in a combination of several tactics. Implementing these tactics is key to a peaceful and productive life. If you suffer from severe anxiety and episodes and panic attacks you should consult a psychiatrist immediately. For those with mild disorders, a combination of behavioral, literary therapy, natural herbs, and prescribed medications will produce astonishing effects.
Behavioral and cognitive therapies are commonly the first approaches to anxiety. First you will be interviewed and diagnosed by a psychologist to determine your level of disorder. Once this process is completed, a psychologist may suggest further diagnosis by a psychiatrist which can prescribe medications. If your condition does not require medication, your therapist will then start methods of psychotherapy and counseling. Included in this counseling is a very effective method of literary therapy. This therapy is conducted with the use of books that promote strong self image and willpower. I have found these books to help surprisingly well and sometimes better than medication. Building your willpower and stopping thought patterns is your strongest line of defense against this disorder. Half the battle is stopping yourself from feeling like a victim and letting yourself further build on negative thoughts. Were all in this life together, so lets not take it too seriously.
In addition to behavioral and literary therapy is the use of natural herbs. These herbs help promote positive moods and knock down the anxiety a few notches. Such natural approaches are St. John's Wort, Rhodiola Rosea, and Valerian Root. There are many more, but these are the ones I have used and do recommend. I have found that St. Johns Wort works the best and still use it to this day. Diet and exercise is your next greatest defense to how you feel. This doesn't need much explanation as we are bombarded everyday on these two health issues.
